James Bartholomew is a full-time artist who works from his studio in an old converted windmill. James is a member of the Royal Society of Marine Artists and a member of The Manchester Academy of Fine Art. He travels extensively and has had work commissioned by the Sunday Times, the British Tourist Authority, BBC Holidays, Christies and Bonhams.

I take my inspiration from the rural and urban areas around my studio in Yorkshire which appear to combine and contrast in perfect harmony; spiky grasses and seed heads set against a backdrop of a geometric cityscape.  These pieces sit alongside more rural landscapes inspired by the english countryside and coastal pieces.  Each piece is created using strong colour ways which are intended to be striking and uplifting.

I have recently had a series of pieces reproduced into greetings cards and giclée prints and expanded my textile pieces to include a collection of accessories using my bold, transfer printed fabrics.

You can find my work in a selection of galleries and I exhibit regularly at both public and trade fairs in addition to selected exhibitions throughout the year.  I enjoy undertaking commissions, both private and commercial, and have produced work for large corporate offices as well as small family run hotels and private houses.

Carolyn Smith was born in Sheffield and trained at Sheffield and Leeds Colleges of Art where she studied Fine Art and Art History.She has lived and worked for many years in the village of Ampleforth on the edge of the North York Moors.

She has had eighteen one woman shows,the most recent at the Arboretum Visitors Centre ,Castle Howard in 2011 to celebrate her year as Artist in Residence at the Arboretum.She has also taken part in numerous group exhibitions around the country.

She spent her formative years amongst the wild scenery of the Peak District but is now  equally captivated by the landscapes of the North York Moors and the Howardian Hills and it is these landscapes which provide the inspiration for her work.

She feels the most important influence on her artistic interpretation of the world has been her early training as a sculptor.Because of this she is drawn to the sculptural qualities of the landscape and tries to capture these  in her highly detailed drawings.

The drawings are predominantly done in pen and ink and coloured pencil. She also produces sculptures in fired crank clay.
